| trait | a characteristic, that varies from one thing to another |
| hybrid | crosses between parents with different traits |
| segregation | separation of alleles |
| gamete | sex cells |
| homozygous | things that have 2 same alleles for the same traits |
| heterozygous | things that have 2 different alleles for the same trait |
| phenotype | same physical characteristics |
| genotype | what makes each organism different |
| independent assortment | when alleles are segregated based on independent genetics |
| incomplete dominance | when one allele is not all the way dominate over another |
| co-dominance | both alleles contribute to the phenotype |
| multiple alleles | genes with more than two alleles, more than two possible alleles exist in the population |
| polygenic traits | traits made by 2 or more genes |
| diploid | two sets of chromosomes |
| haploid | half the set of chromosomes |
| meiosis | the division of gamates (sex cells) |
| tetrad | when each chromosome pairs with its corresponding homologous to form a structure |
