| Homozygous | organisms with identical alleles for particular trait |
| Heterozygous | organisms that have 2 different alleles for the same trait |
| Phenotype | physical characteristics |
| Genotype | genetic makeup |
| Independent Assortment | genes for different traits can segregate independently during formation of gametes |
| Incomplete dominance | one allele is not completely dominant over another |
| Co-dominance | both alleles contribute to phenotype |
| Multiple alleles | genes with more than 2 alleles |
| Polygenic traits | traits that are controlled by 2 or more genes "having many genes" |
| Haploid | one set |
| Diploid | two sets |
| Meiosis | division of sex cells |
| Tetrad | chromosome pair with the corresponding homologous chromosome |
