| Absorption | Passage of digested food from GI into blood or lymph. |
| Appendicitis | Blockage in appendix that prevents normal flow through the lrg intestine, causing pressure build up, decreased blood flow and inflammation. |
| Ascites | Abnormal build up of serous fluid in the peritoneal cavity. |
| Borborygmus | Rumbling noise cased by propulsion of gas through the intestines |
| Emulsification | Dispersion of large lipid globules into smaller particles in the presence of bile.Ga |
| Gastroenteritis | Inflammation of lining of the stomach and intestines. |
| Gastroenterology | Specialty that deals with the structure, function, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the stomach and intestines. |
| Hepatitis | Inflammation of the liver caused by ingested toxins or other materials |
| Hernia | Protrusion of all or part of an organ through a membrane or cavity wall |
| Jaundice | Yellowing skin, eyes, mucous membranes and body fluids. Due to build up of bilirubin. |
| Striae | Line or band elevated above or depressed below surrounding tissue. Seen in parts of the body where skin has been stretched. |
