Absorption Passage of digested food from GI into blood or lymph.
Appendicitis Blockage in appendix that prevents normal flow through the lrg intestine, causing pressure build up, decreased blood flow and inflammation.
Ascites Abnormal build up of serous fluid in the peritoneal cavity.
Borborygmus Rumbling noise cased by propulsion of gas through the intestines
Emulsification Dispersion of large lipid globules into smaller particles in the presence of bile.Ga
Gastroenteritis Inflammation of lining of the stomach and intestines.
Gastroenterology Specialty that deals with the structure, function, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the stomach and intestines.
Hepatitis Inflammation of the liver caused by ingested toxins or other materials
Hernia Protrusion of all or part of an organ through a membrane or cavity wall
Jaundice Yellowing skin, eyes, mucous membranes and body fluids. Due to build up of bilirubin.
Striae Line or band elevated above or depressed below surrounding tissue. Seen in parts of the body where skin has been stretched.
