| Term | Definition |

| Aneurysm | Thin, weakened section of the wall of an artery or a vein and it bulges outward. |
| Blood Pressure | Force exerted by blood against the walls of blood vessels due to contraction of the heart |
| Capillaries | Very small diffusion vessels between an arteriole and a venule |
| Coronary arteries | Arteries that supply oxygen and nutrients to the cardiac muscle. |
| Deep vein thrombosis | Thrombus in a deep vein of lower limbs |
| Embolus | Blood clot, bubble of air, fat from broken bones or pieces of debris transported by blood stream |
| Occlusion | Closure or obstruction of the lumen of a structure |
| Orthostatic hypotension | Sudden drop in BP when you sit or stand |
| Pulse | Expansion and recoil of artery after each contraction of the left ventricle. |
| Vasoconstriction | Decrease in size of lumen of blood vessel due to smooth muscle contraction |
| Vasodilation | Increase in size of lumen of blood vessel due o smooth muscle relaxation |
| Venule | Small vein that collects blood from capillaries and delivers it to a vein |
| Mean arterial Pressure | Pressure forcing blood into tissues averaged over the cardiac cycle. |
| Hypotension | Reading of <95/60 |
| Hypertension | Reading of >140/90 |
