How does non-disjunction cause Down Syndrome? The homologous chromosomes do not pair or separate or the sister chromatids do not separate during meiosis II.
Trisomy 21 Down syndrome occurs when there is an extra copy of chromosome 21. This form of Down syndrome is called Trisomy 21.
How are chromosomes arranged in a karyotype? ?
What is the purpose of conducting a karyotype? to determine the arrangement of the chromosomes to tell if there are any abnormalities.
What are two ways cells are collected for a karyotype? karyotyping is performed using cells collected by chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis, for pre-natal diagnosis of chromosome abnormalities.
How would you determine if non-disjucting occurred when analyzing a karyotype? If there are extra chromosomes or if they are paired wrongly.
