| endosymbiosis | one organism lives in the body of another |
| hibernation | period of decreased activity and body temperature |
| dormancy | state of inactivity when organism is not growing |
| migration | relatively long-distance movement of individuals, usually seasonal |
| territory | geographical area defended by an animal |
| mimicry | similarity of one species to another which protects both |
| bioluminescence | production and emission of light by a living organism |
| auxins | stimulates lengthening of cells resulting in phototrophism |
| gibberelins | stimulates growth |
| ethylene | causes ripening of fruit |
| cytokinins | stimulates cytokineses and growth of side branches |
