Biodiversity

TermDefinition
Natural Selection a natural process resulting in the evolution of organisms best adapted to the environment
Evolution a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form.
Artificial Selection human intervention in animal or plant reproduction to ensure that certain desirable traits are represented in future generations.
Variation Individuals in a population differ from one another.
Heritability Variations are inherited from parents.
Overproduction Populations produce more offspring than can survive.
Reproductive Advantage Some variations allow the organism that possesses them to have more offspring than the organism that does not possess them.
Fitness The condition of being physically fit and healthy
Adaptation A change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment.
