| Chromosomes | -A Chromosome is a supercoiled structure made of DNA and associated proteins on which genes are located. |
| Genes | -Genes are... ...a specific sequence of nucleotides ...on a chain of DNA ...located within a Chromosome ...in the nucleus of all living cells. -The genes carry hereditary traits or information. |
| DNA | -DNA is Deoxyribonucleic Acid. -DNA is a double-stranded, helical nucleic acid that stores hereditary information. -Nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA. -Each living thing has a unique formula of DNA. -DNA is a part of every living cell. |
| Nucleotides | -Nucleotides which are a part of DNA... -Adenine & Thymine -Guanine & Cytocine -These nucleotides are paired together in specific sequences or order which is the code of specific hereditary traits. |
| RNA | -DNA is Ribonucleic Acid. -RNA is a single strand of nucleotides. -RNA read (mRNA) the genetic information stored in DNA. -RNA makes possible the expression of the hereditary traits. |
| DNA Replication | -DNA makes more of itself by -Breaking the weak bonds & separating into two separate strands. -New complimentary or partner-nucleotides are added to each separated strand. -Two identical double strands of DNA are now formed. |
| Meiosis | -Meiosis is the process which cell division that halves the number of chromosomes to form reproductive cells or gametes. (Egg & Sperm cells are gametes in Human Beings.) |
| Mutations | -Mutations are changes in DNA that happen randomly and may be inherited by offspring if...The mutations occurs in sex cells or gametes before the time of reproduction. |
