| Splicing | process of inserting a desired gene |
| Recombinant DNA | New DNA containing the desired gene |
| Transformation | process in which one strain of bacteria is changed by a gene or genes from another strain of bacteria |
| Gene Therapy | Technique used to replace a damaged gene with a functional one to cure a specific genetic disorder |
| Transgenic Organism | an organism with two different sources of DNA |
| Recombinant cell | DNA produced by combining DNA from different sources |
