QuestionAnswer
In a double helix model of DNA, How many bases are there? It consists of Four bases, Adenine, Guanine, Thymine, Cytosine.
In a double helix model of DNA, What bases pair with each other? Adenine to Thymine, Cytosine to Guanine.
What are the three things the DNA model consists of? A phosphate group, Nitrogenous base, 5-Carbon sugar.
What are the five phases of Mitosis in order? Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase.
What happens during the Prophase stage of Mitosis? Chromosomes double.
What happens during the Metaphase stage of Mitosis? Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell.
What happens during the Anaphase stage of Mitosis? Chromosomes move to opposite poles of the cell.
What happens during the Telophase stage of Mitosis? Nucleus is doubled.
What is Mitosis? Process in which cells divide to produce more cells.
What is Meiosis? Process in which cell division halves the number of chromosomes to form reproductive cells or gametes.
What is a Gamete? The sex cells of human beings.(Egg&Sprem)
What is DNA? DeoxyriboNucleic acid. A double stranded helical nucleic acid that stores hereditary information.
What is RNA? Ribonucleic Acid. A single strand of Nucleotides that reads the genetic information stored in DNA.
What are the Nitrogenous bases for RNA? What bases pair together? Adenine, Uracil, Guanine, Cytosine. Adenine to Uracil, Guanine to Cytosine
What is a Mutation? Changes in DNA that happen randomly or may be inherited by offspring.
What is DNA replication? When DNA breaks the weak bonds and separates into two strands. New complimentary or partner-nucleotides are added to each strand. Two identical double strands of DNA are formed.
What are genes? Specific sequence of nucleotides, on a chain of DNA, located within a chromosome, inside the nucleus of all living cells.
What are Nucleotides? Building blocks of DNA. A,T,G,C(Nucleotides)
What happens during Interphase? Preparation for cell division.
What happens during Cytokinesis? Process which the cytoplasm of a single eukaryotic cell is divided to form two daughter cells.
