| Transgenic Organism | An organism that contains recombinant DNA from a different organism. |
| Recombinant DNA | DNA made by combining DNA fragments from different organisms. |
| Ligase | An enzyme that glues DNA together |
| Ribosome | The site of protein synthesis. The site of translation. |
| Nucleus | The control center of the cell that contains the cell's DNA. |
| DNA | The molecule that contains the information for making proteins. It is stuck in the nucleus. |
| DNA Gel Electrophoresis | A process used to separate strands of DNA by size. It forms a DNA fingerprint that can be used to determine who committed a crime. |
| DNA Fingerprint | A unique banding pattern created by the process of Gel Electrophoresis. |
| Clones | Genetically identical copies of organisms |
