| Epiglottis | At the back of the tongue, covers the windpipe |
| Esophagus | Connects the mouth to the stomach |
| Peristalsis | Squeezing action of smooth muscles in esophagus, stomach, and small intestine |
| Liver | This is where Bile is made. |
| Pancreas | Adds enzymes to stomach |
| Villi | Folds in small intestine that absorb nutrients finger like projection. they increase surface are for absorption , they have thin walls surrounded by blood capillaries. There are lots of them. |
| Large Intestine | Absorbs water from undigested materials |
| Bacteria | Help make vitamins K and B |
| ingestion | process of taking food into the body |
| Absorption | The process by which nutrient molecules pass through the wall of the digestive system into the blood. |
| Peristalsis | Involuntary waves of muscle contraction that keep food moving along in one direction through the digestive system. |
| Gallbladder | This stores bile and transfers it to the small intestine. |
