Basic Definitions

ECOLOGY The study of the interactions between living things and their environment.
BIOSPHERE Is that part of the planet containing living organisms.
ECOSYSTEM Is a group of clearly distinguished organisms that interact with their environment as a unit.
HABITAT The place where a plant or animals lives.
POPULATION All members of the same species living in an area.
COMMUNITY All the different populations living in an area.
ABIOTIC Altitude, Aspect & Current are all examples of ____________ factors.
ASPECT The direction that a slope faces (north, south)
ALTITUDE Height above sea level.
