Distinguish between a monomer and a polymer. Polymers are made of repeated molecules called monomers.
Why are carbon containing molecules known as organic molecules? Because carbon is the fundamental element that exists causing other life forms.
What elements make up most polymers in nature? Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen.
What are the main functions of carbohydrates? To store energy in plants and animals. Provide structure in plant cells.
What is the general formula for Glucose and Fructose? What is the difference between them? C6H12O6 They have a different structure
In the Benedict's test what does each colour indicate? Blue- None, Green- Very Low, Yellow- Low, Orange- Medium, Red- High.
Describe the Benedict's test. Place the solution into a test tube and add an equal amount of Benedict's solution, place it in a water bath for 10 minutes, observe colour.
What does the Benedict's test, test for? Reducing Sugars
