homeostasis | condition in which an organism's internal environment is kept stable in spite of changes in the outside envionment |
stress | reaction of your body to possible threatening, challenging or uncomfortable events |
skeleton | all the bones in the body |
vertebrae | 26 small bones that make up the backbone |
ligament | strong connective tissues that hold bones together |
compact bone | layer in bones that is hard and dense but not solid and contains minerals that give bones strength |
spongy bone | layer in long bones at the ends and under compact bones |
marrow | connective tissue in bones, makes blood cells and stores fat |
cartilage | strong connective tissue that is more flexible than bone |
osteoporosis | a condition in which bones become weak and break easily |
involuntary muscle | muscles not under conscious control |
voluntary muscle | muscles under conscious control |

tendon | connective tissue attaches muscle to bone |

follicle | strands of hair that grow within the dermis |
