What is a short-term goal? Achieved in less than one year - the near future
What is a long-term goal? Can be reached in more than year
What is a goal? The end result of what a person wants to achieve, reach, accomplish, do.
What does the "S" stand for in SMART goal? Specific
What does the "M" stand for in SMART goal? Measurable
What does the "A" stand for in SMART goal? Attainable or Achievable
What does the "R" stand for in SMART goal? Realistic
What does the "T" stand for in SMART goal? Timely
What does verbal communication use? Words
What does non-verbal communication use? Gestures, Facial Expressions, Body Language
What is active listening? Listening for meaning/understanding - giving feedback when necessary
What is passive listening? Hearing the words, not necessarily understanding them.
What is a SMART goal? An effective way to set goals - specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely.
"You" statements can be described as? Negative messages- blame, judge, command
"I" statements can be described as? Positive messages- the sender re-states feelings and ideas to send a clearer message
