WORDDEFINITION
Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that occur in living organisms in order to maintain life.
nutrition also called nourishment or aliment. Is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary (in the form of food) to support life.
Polymers large compounds formed by the joining of smaller compounds
Monomers small compounds that join together to form larger compounds
Polymerization process that joins small compounds to form larger compounds
enzymes biological substance (proteins) that act as catalysts and help complex reactions occur everywhere in life.
Proteins control the speed of reactions and regulate cell processes, build tissues, transport materials, or help to fight disease.
Nucleic acid store and transmit hereditary, or genetic information.
Lipids used to store energy, as part of biological membrane, or waterproof coverings.
Carbohydrates main source of energy or structures.
homeostasis The property of a living organism that regulates its internal environment so as to maintain a stable, balanced and constant condition
