| climax community | the last stage of succession |
| conserving | the saving or protecting of resources |
| reduce | to cut down on the use of resources |
| reclamation | the process of restoring a damaged ecosystem |
| reuse | to use items again; sometimes for a different purpose |
| wetlands | the water ecosystems that include saltwater marshes, mangrove swamps, and mud flats |
| recycle | to recover a resource from an item and use the recovered resource to make a new item |
