The Integuntary system is an organ system which consists of four things, what are they? -skin,-hair,-nails,-exocrine glands
Medical term for skin? Integumentary system
Five major functions of our skin Protection, Sensory response, Vitamin D, Control of the body Temperature, Ridding the body wastes.
Protection Fluid loss and injury
Temperature regulation 36C or 98F
Sensation Skin communication organ or sending information to the brain like sense of touch, pressure, temp. and pain.
Vitamin D Vitamin D helps normal absorption of calcium from the large intestines.
Lack of Vitamin D in Children causes Rickets
What is rickets? Bone sotening or weakening.
Waste disposal Skin serve site for execretion of waste materials through perspiration(sweating) Such as excess salts.
Layers of the skin Epidermis, Dermis and subcutneous(hypodermis)
