TermDefinition
Industrial Revolution The transformation from an agricultural to an industrial nation.
Infant Mortality The death of children under the age of one year.
Life Expectancy The average period that a person may expect to live.
Growth Rate The rate of increase in size per unit time.
Demography The study of statistics such as births, deaths, income, or the incidence of disease, which illustrate the changing structure of human populations.
Total Fertility Rate The average number of children that would be born to a woman over her lifetime
Replacement Fertility The fertility rate needed to ensure that the population remains constant as each set of parents is replaced by its offspring.
Demographic Transitions The transition from high birth and death rates to a low birth and death rate due to the per-industrial country converting to an industrialized economic system.
Wealth Gap Economic inequality is the difference between individuals and populations in the distributions of their assets, wealth, or income.
