Family, Community, and Leadership

| character | a combination of traits that show strong ethical principles and maturity |
| leader | a person who has influence over or guides a group |
| citizenship | doing your part to make your community better |
| kindness | being kind and compassionate |
| trustworthy | being honest, reliable, and doing what you say you will do |
| fairness | playing by the rules |
| responsibility | doing what you are supposed to do, being accountable |
| heredity | the passing on of traits from parents to their children |
| roles | how you relate to other people and how you act in various situations |
| culture | ways of thinking, acting, dressing and speaking shared by a group of people |
| personality | shows in the way you look, the way you communicate, and the way you act. it is the part of you that you reveal to other people |
| values | your ideas about what is right and wrong and about what is important in life |
| self concept | a mental picture of yourself |
| self esteem | the ability to respect yourself |
| peers | people the same age as you |
| refusal skills | techniques for resisting negative peer pressure |
| acquaintance | refusal skills |
| respect | being tolerant of other people's differences, treating others how you want to be treated |
| peer pressure | the influence you feel to go along with the behavior of your peers |
