Quantify An experiment that has mathematically and statistically calculation to show results. Comparative Experiments The samples will have a different based on the prediction. Variables can not be control. Simply gathering and comparing.
Scientific Investigation Are based on Observation and Experimentation Controlled Experiments Experiments done in the lab and predictions are made on the basis of the hypothesis. Variables is compared to a unchanged control.
Scientific Method AKA, hypothesis-prediction (H-P) Method, and have the following steps: Observation, Question, Hypotheses, Prediction, and Testing.
Inductive Logic Using observations or facts and creating a new proposition that is compatible with those observations and facts
Deductive Logic To make predictions based on the hypothesis
Independent Variable The variable being manipulated
Dependent Variable The response that is measured
Experimental Trial or Replicates The amount of the same experimental control. Must have a least 3 for every Experimental control.
Negative Control Control group is exposed to all of the experimental conditions except for the actual treatment
Positive Control Control group usually treated with an alternative treatment that the researcher knows will have an effect on the the dependent variable
