Mendelian Genetics
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Traits | genetic characteristics, which are passed from one generation to the next |
| Self-Pollination | occurs when pollen from a flower falls on the stigma of the same flower and ends up fertilizing that same flower's ovules |
| Cross-Pollination | the transfer of male pollen from the flower of one plant to the flower of a different plant |
| Purebred | has the same alleles for a specific trait- an example genotype would be TT. Another way to describe this would be homozygous |
| Homozygous | Organisms that have the same alleles for the same trait |
| Heterozygous | Organisms that has two different alleles for the same trait |
