biome n. n. a region of the Earth's surface and the particular combination of weather conditions, plants, and animals that are found in it. Each continent has a number of different _____s
desert n. n. a large, dry area where there is very little rain and few plants: -lack of water, dry, rich in minerals, poor in animals and plants. - cactus plants, lizards, reptiles, insects, kangaroo rats, few birds, insects.
tundra n. n.any of the very large, flat areas of land in northern parts of Asia, North America, and Europe where, because it is cold, trees do not grow and the earth below the surface is permanently frozen. Caribou, polar bears, musk ox, artic hares, foxes
taiga n. the swampy (soft and very wet) coniferous (one of various types of evergreen tree) forest of high northern latitudes, especially that between the tundra and steppes of Siberia. Is able to support pines, firs, spruces, and other conifers.
rain forest n. n.Is a hot, humid biome near the equator with heavy rainfall and a variety of life. Supports more organisms thn any other place. 4 layers: forest floor,understory, canopy, emergent layer,
forest floor n. Few plants can grow because there is very little light. Insects/ frogs /mice
undestory n. is made of tree trunks, shrubs, and vines . Leopards, jaguars and other mammals.
canopy n. Monkey, bats, toucans, tree frogs, snakes and insects
emergent layer n. it is made of the upper parts of large trees.
deciduous forest n. with 4 distinct seasons and deciduous tress are hardwoods whose leaves change color and fall off every autumm
