Respiration
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Glycolysis | the process by which glucose is broken down into pyruvic acid |
| Aerobic Respiration | a process that uses oxygen to break down glucose, producing a form of chemical energy |
| Pyruvic Acid | the product of glycolysis |
| Aerobic | means "with air." This term is usually used in biology when talking about respiration. |
| Krebs Cycle | a continuing series of reactions in cellular respiration |
| Electron Transport Chain | The passing of electrons during photosynthesis takes place through this |
| Fermentation | the breakdown of materials through anaerobic respiration. The breakdown of these materials produces energy |
| Anaerobic | means "no oxygen." Fermentation is an example of this type of process. |
