Meiosis A specific cell division that splits a cell into 4 and each has half as many chromosomes as the parent cells
Karyotype Display of a persons 46 chromosomes
Homologous Chromosome One of a matching pair of chromosomes from each parent
Sex Chromosome One of two chromosomes of the 23 chromosomes to determine the gender
Diploid Having two homologous set of chromosomes
Gamete Egg or sperm sex cell that has a single set of chromosomes from each homologous pair
Haploid A single set of chromosomes
Fertilization When the sperm enters the egg and sets in
Zygote When the haploid sperm fusses with the haploid egg
Tetrad Four chromatids formed during prophase 1 of meiosis
