| Analogous | Different structures with common functions. |
| Competition | Two organisms fighting for resources in the same environment. |
| Common Ancestry | A link between organisms present today and those that have gone extinct. |
| Evolution | Gradual change in a species over time. |
| Extinction | The death of every member of a species. |
| Homologous | Similarly built structures with different functions. |
| Invertebrate | Organisms without a backbone. |
| Mammal | Organisms that has hair, mammary glands, and regulates its own body temperature. |
| Natural Selection | When organisms survive, reproduce, and pass favorable traits to the next generation. |
| Species | Organisms of the same kind that can reproduce and create offspring. |
| Strata | Layers of rock (sedimentary rock) |
| Variation | Different forms of the same trait shown by species in the same population. |
| Vertebrate | Organism with a backbone. |
| Vestigial | A body structure that at one time was very useful, however now it has limited functions. |
