Flash Cards for the Circulatory System

Name four chambers of the Heart? Right atrium, Right ventricle, Left atrium, Left ventricle.
What happens if your heart stops beating? Cardiac arrest. Potential death.
What is the average amount of blood in the adult male human body (In litres)? 5.2 litres.
How long doe's it take for a single red blood cell to circulate around the body? 1 minute.
What organ requires the most oxygen to function? The Brain.
What are two primary functions of heart? Pump blood through the body. Oxidise blood.
What happens if you don't have enough blood? Tired, weak, sweaty, shaky, confused, dizzy, hungry, grumpy.
How do red blood cells collect oxygen? Through Diffusion.
Why are all red blood cells red when you bleed? Because the blood oxidizes.
What do white blood cells have to do with the circulatory system? White blood cells use arteries and veins to go the the infection.
What is the liquid part of the blood called? Plasma.
What are platelets? They are blood cells that help stop bleeding.
