What is Biology? The scientific study of Life
What is a chromosome? Organized structure of DNA, Protein, and RNA found in cells
What is a Nucleus? A membrane enclosed organelle found in eukaryotic cells
What are genes? Molecular units of heredity of an organism
What is a genotype? It's the genetic make up of cells
What are phenotype? Observable traits or characteristics
What is mitochondria? Membrane bounds organelles in Eukaryotic cells?
What is Smooth ER(endoplasmic reticulum)? Present in plant and animal cells; on outer surface
What is Rough ER(endoplasmic reticulum)? Present in plants and animals cells; on inner surface
What is Golgi Apparatus? Distribution and shipping department for the cell's chemical products
What are Lysosomes? An array of enzymes capable of breaking down proteins
What are Centrioles? Self-replicating organelles only found in animal cells
What is a Cell Wall? Outer rim of cells; holds all part together
What is co dominance? A single gene has more than one dominant allele
What is incomplete dominance? form of intermediate inheritance that is not competeley dominant over a trait
What are sex linked traits? Traits from genes found on sex chromosomes
What are Multiple alleles? There are three or more forms of a gene for a trait existing
What is self-pollination? Pollination that can occur when a flower has both stamen and a carpel
What is cross pollination? Pollen is transferred for reproduction
What is Mitosis? Process by which a cell duplicates into two daughter cells
What is Meiosis? A cell division with two stages
What is a diploid? The basic chromosome count within a cell
What is a haploid? Half of a diploid's amount of chromosome
What are X Chromosomes? A sex determining cell in reproduction
What are Y Chromosomes? A sex determining cell in reproductions
