| circulatory system | transmit required materials and oxygen to different parts of the body |

| heart | hollow muscular organ that pumps the blood through the circulatory system |
| arteries | any of the muscular tubes forming part of the circulatory system by which blood is sent to all the parts of the body |
| veins | carries oxygen depleated blood to the heart |
| blood | red liquid that circulates in the arteries and veins of humans, carrying oxygen and carbon dioxide from the tissues of the body |
| hypertension / high blood pressure | occurs when blood presses against the artery walls over a long period of time |
| neurons | nerve cells (axons and dendrites) |
| nerve impulses | self-propagating wave of electrical distubance that travel along the surface of the neuron membrane |
| fight or flight response | the changes produced by increaseed sympathetic impulses allowing the body to deal with any stress |
| cell body | the main part of a neuron from which the dendrites and axons extend |
| dendrites | branching or treelike, a nerve cell process that transmits impulses toward the body |
| nervous system | sends signals throughout your body |
| thymus | galnd located in the mediastinum, contains T lymphocytes that react to viruses, bacteria, froeign tissue, and other antigens |
| lymph | clear, colorless fluid containing white blood cells that help rid the body of toxins, waste,and unwanted material |
| spleen | largest lymphoid organ, located in upper left quadrant of the abdomen. filter and removes debris and antigens from the blood |
| appendix | filters debris and antigens away from the gastrointestinal tract |
| antibodies | substances produced by the body that detroy or inactivates a specific substance that has entered the body. |
| lympatic and immune sysyem | cleanses celular inviornment, defends the body against diseases, returns proteins and tissue fluids to the blood |
| lymph nodes | located in neck, groin, and under arms |
| testis/ testicles | primary male sex organs, paired, oval shaped, and enclosed in a sac called the scrotum |
| smeiniferous tubules | approximately 900 colied tubes within the tests in which spernmatogenesis |
| prostate gland | encircles the upper end of the uretha, the prostate gland secretes a fluid that aids in the movement of sperm and ejaculation |
