Robert Hooke Robert Hooke was the first to study and record cells by using a microscope.
Cell theory a scientific theory that describes the properties of cells
Prokaryotes a group of organisms whose cells lack a membrane-bound nucleus.
Eukaryotes a group of organisms whose cells do have a nucleus
Eye piece Holds magnifying lense used for viewing
Objectives Lenses connected to the nose piece differing in magnification
Nose piece Holds high & low power objectives , can be rotated to adjust magnification
Coarse adjustment Moves body tube up & down for focusing
Fine adjustment Sharpens image my moving body tube slightly
Diaphragm Controls amount of light entering the body tube
Stage Hold the slides on a flat surface
