Define cell -Basic structural & functional unit of any living thing.
Cell Wall -Plant cell -Outer Layer; around cell membrane -Made of cellulose -Used for protection
Cell Membrane -Located around cell -protects cell -Lets things in & out of cell
Nucleus -Plant & animal -large & oval-shaped -Located in center of cell -"control center"
Nucleolus -plant & animal -dark spot -located in nucleus -makes ribosomes
Nuclear Membrane -Plant & animal -located around nucleus -protects nucleus & lets things in & out of nucleus through pores
Cytoplasm -plant & animal -clear, thick, jelly-like -holds on to all organelles in the cell
Chromatin/chromosomes -plant & animal -located in nucleus -contains genetic info & traits
E.R. -CONNECTED -Plant & animal -network of tubes connected from cell membrane to nuclear membrane -transports materials & sends messages to all parts of the cell -2 types: smooth & rough
Ribosomes -Plant & animal -small, circular shapes -in cytoplasm or attached to E.R. -*makes protein*
Mitochondria -plant & animal -bean-shaped & breaks down sugar into energy
Vacuole -Plant & animal: plant=few/large animal=small/many -fluid filled sacs -stores food, water, or waste
