|---|---|
| Chromosomes | a threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information in the form of genes. |
| Chromitim | the material of which the chromosomes of organisms other than bacteria (i.e., eukaryotes) are composed. It consists of protein, RNA, and DNA. |
| Chromitid | each of the two threadlike strands into which a chromosome divides longitudinally during cell division. Each contains a double helix of DNA |
| Karyotype | To arrange and classify the chromosome complement of an organism based on the number, size, shape, and other characteristics of the chromosomes. |
| Centromere | Where chromitids join |
| Cenreiole | Releases spindal fibers |
| Spindle Fiber | In cell biology, spindle apparatus refers to the subcellular structure that segregates chromosomes between daughter cells during cell division |
| Poles of a cell | Opp ends of a cell |
| Crossing Over | When DNA trades places with like chromosomes |
| Tetrad | |
| non-disjunction | When chromosomes or chromatin fail to separate |
| gametic cells | Sex cells |
| somatic | body cells |
| sex chromisomes | #23 xx in females xy in males |
| autosomes | rest of the body |
| homologous pair | An identical pair of chromisomes |
| hapliod | n (half chromosomes) |
| dipliod | 2n (double chromosomes) |
