Binomial nomenclature Two-word naming system
Genus Consists of a group of similar species.
Specific epithet The second word in binomial nomenclature
Family Next largest taxon after genus, consists of a group of similar genera
Order A taxon of similar families.
Class A taxon of simple orders
Phylum A taxon of similar classes
Division Used instead of phylum
Kingdom A taxon of similar phyla and divisions
