Specific Epithet 2nd word in naming system describes characteristics of organisms
Family Group of similar genera (or genus)
Order Group of similar families
Class Group of similar orders
Phylum Group of similar classes
Division Plant substitution for phylum
Kingdom Group of similar divisions or phylum
Archaebacteria Prokaryotes that live in harsh areas like hot springs and swamps
Eubacteria Prokaryotes with strong cell walls
Protists Eukaryotes that lack complex organ systems and live in wet areas
Fungi Uni/multicellular eukaryotes that absorbs nutrients from organic matter
Plants Multicellular, photosynthetic, eukaryotes organisms
Animals Multicellular heterotrophs
