| decomposers | organisms that get their food energy by breaking dead animals and plants. |
| food chain | shows how food energy passes from one organism to another in a feeding pathway. |
| food web | shows several different food chains and the connections between them |
| ecological pyramid | shows energy lost in the food chain |
| cycle | anything that happens over and over again. For example, water and carbon cycle. |
| niche | combines where the organism lives, how it gets its food, and how it interacts with other organisms |
| photosynthesis | plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make sugars and oxygen |
| producers | organism that makes their own food from non-living materials |
| consumers | animals that get their food from the living |
