Heredity The passing of the genetic traits from parent to offspring
Dominant Trait The trait observed in the first generation when parents that have different traits are bred. Shown by Capital letter (T)
Recessive Trait A trait that reappears in the second generation after disappearing in the first generation when parents of different traits are bred-lower case letter(t)
Gene One set of instructions for an inherited trait
Allele One of the alternative forms of a gene that governs a characteristic, such as hair color
Phenotype An organism’s appearance or other detectable characteristic; Traits
Genotype The genetic makeup of an organism
Probability The likelihood that a possible future event will occur in any gives instance of the event
Homologous Chromosomes Chromosomes that have the same sequence of the genes and the same structure
Diploid A cell that contains two paired(haploid) sets of chromosomes
Haploid a cell that has only one set of unpaired chromosomes
Meiosis A process in cell division during which the number of chromosomes decreases to half the original number by two division of the nucleus, which results in the production of sex cells (gametes)
Homozygous an genotype that has two dominant or two recessive alleles-PURE(TT)(tt)
Heterozygous A genotype that has the combination of one dominant allele and one recessive-HYBRID-(Tt)
