bio vocab

QuestionAnswer
calorie either of two units of heat energy.
cellular respiration the metabolic processes whereby certain organisms obtain energy from organic molecules.
aerobic requiring free oxygen.
anaerobic requiring an absence of free oxygen.
glycolysis the breakdown of glucose by enzymes, releasing energy and pyruvic acid.
NAD+ electron carrier involved in glycolysis. NAD+ helps to pass energy from glucose to other pathways.
Krebs cycle the sequence of reactions by which most living cells generate energy during the process of aerobic respiration.
matrix an environment or material in which something develops.
