| Allele | What is representing a gene, as in a letter. |
| Dominant | A gene that is over powering. |
| Fertilization | When an organism is able to produce an offspring. |
| Gamete | A male cell or a female cell that can come together to form an offspring. |
| Genetics | The study of heredity. |
| Genotype | An organisms genetic make up. |
| Heredity | The study of variation in organisms. |
| Heterozygous | When a genetic pair is two different alleles. |
| Homozygous | When a genetic pair has the same alleles. |
| Hybrid | Another term for Heterozygous. |
| Law of Independent Assortment | Genes for different traits are inherited independently of each other. |
| Law of Segregation | Every individual has two alleles of each gene and when gametes are produced, each gamete receives one of these alleles. |
| Phenotype | How something physically looks. |
| Pollination | When a flower fertilizes. |
| Recessive | An allele that is always non-important and is overtaken. |
| Trait | An organisms characteristics. |
| Zygote | A fertilized organism. |
