Organelles
Cell parts and their functions
| Organelle | Function |
|---|---|
| Ribosomes | Makes proteins |
| Endoplasmic Reticulum | Produces, processes and transports proteins and lipds |
| Golgi Complex | Packages and distributes materials |
| Vacuole | Stores fluid, enzymes, or nutrients |
| Chloroplasts | Where photosynthesis occurs; the production of glucose and oxygen from sunlight, water and carbon dioxide |
| Lysosome | Digests and eats cell wastes, organelles and foreign invaders |
| Cell Membrane | A barrier to control what enters or exits the cell |
| Cell Wall | Provides support and protection to the cell |
| Cytoplasm | Contains all of the organelles inside of the cell |
| Nucleus | Protects the cells genetic material (DNA) |
| Cytoskeleton | A network of protein filaments that give shape and support to cells, also assists with cell division and the movement of cells. |
| Mitochondrion | Where cellular respiration occurs to convert food into energy (ATP) for all life processes. |
