Fentanyl TD - Opiate-analgesic Used to control moderate to severe pain that's expected to last for some time. Action: Skin patches applied to skin every 72 hrs and drugs slowly released into body over that period.
Flagyl Oral - Antipritozol and antibacterial Used to treat infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria. Action: Flagyl is shown active in vitro for most strains of anaerobis T. Vaginalis, E. histologia, and intestional and liver amebiases.
Flexeril Oral - Muscle Relaxant Used to treat skeletal muscle conditons such as pain or injury. Action: Works by blocking nerve impulses (pain sensors) that are sent to the brain.
Flomax Oral - Alpha-adrenergic blockers Use: Relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making urination easier. Action: In men with benign prostate tumors it relaxes the veins and arteries so the blood flow can pass more easily through them.
Flonase Nasal - Steroid Used to treat nasal symptoms such as congestion, sneezing, and runny nose caused by year round allergies. Action: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, reducing nasal airway, reducing nasal ariways in response to allergens/irritants in the air.
Fluxatine Oral - Antidepressant Used to treat major depressive disorders, bulimia nervosa obsessive compulsive disorders, panic disorders and others. Action: Affect chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression, panic or anxiety.d
Folic Acid Oral - Natural Substance Used to treat folic acid deficiency and megloblastic anemia caused by folic acid deficiency Action: Important in the formation of red and white blood cells.
Fosamax Oral - Bisphosphonatic Used to slow down bone loss while increasing bone mass, which may prevent bone fractures. Action: Alters the cycle of bone formation and breakdown in the body helping prevent postmemopausal or steriod induced osteoporosis.
Furosemide Oral - Diuretic Used to control fluid retention in individuals with hypertension, congestive heart failure, liver and kidney disease. Action: A loop diuretic prevents the body from absorbing too much salt by passing it thorough the urine.
Gabapentin Oral - Antiseizure Used with other drugs to treat some types of epileptic seizures and posttheraputic neuralgia (herpes zoster virus). Action: Affects chemicals and nerves in the body involved that are in the cause of seizures and certain types of nerve pain.
Geodon Oral - Antipsychotic Used to treat schizophrenia and manic symptoms of bipolar disorders. Action: Works by changing the effects of chemicals in the brain.
Glucophage Oral - Antihyperglycemic Used as an oral diabetic medicine for poeple that have type 2 diabetes. Action: Helps control blood sugar levels.
Guaifenesin Oral - Expectorant Used to reduce chest congestion caused by common colds, infection or allergies. Action: Loosens phlegm and increases the lubrication of the lungs allowing a productive cough and decreases chest congestion.
Hydrochlorothiazide Oral - Thiazide diuretic Used to treat fluid retention in invididuals with hypertension, congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disease or edema. Action: Helps prevent the body from absorbing too much salt which can cause fluid retention.
Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen - Narcotic Used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Action: Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effect of hydrocodone
Hydroxyzine Oral - Antihistamine Use: Depresses central nervous system causing relief from anxiety - treats allergic condtions of the skin, hives, ithcing and rashes. Action: Blocks the effects of naturally occuring chemical histamines in the body.
Hyzaar Oral - Thiazide diuretic/Angiotensin II Used to treat hypertension and reduce the risk of stroke in individuals with hypertension. Action: A diuretic that helps prevent fluid retention and help keep blood vessels from narrowing, lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.
Ibuprofen Oral - Non-steriodial anti-inflammatory (NASAIDs) Used to reduce fever, treat pain or inflammation caused by many conditions, headaches, back, arthritis, etc. Action: Reduces hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
Inderal Oral - Beta blocker Use to treat tremors, angina, hypertension, heart arrhythmias and other heart diseases. Action: Relaxes blood vessels in the heart so it does not pump as hard.
Indomethacin Oral - NASAID Use to relieve moderate to severe pain, tenderness,swelling and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis, bursitis and tendinitis. Action: Stops the bodys production of substances that causes pain, fever and inflammation.
Keflex Oral - Antiboiotic Used for certain infection caused by bacteria such as pneumonia and bone, ear, skin and urinary tract system. Action: Being derived wholly or partially from certain microorganism antibiotics either kill or stop microorganim from reproducing.
Keppra Oral - Anti-epileptic Use: Treats partial onset seizures in epileptics; also used for myclonic and tonic-clonic seizures. Action: Not exactly known how it works but it may work by slowing abnormal nerve impulses to the brain.
Ketek Oral - Antibiotic Use to treat bacterial infeciton in the lungs and in the sinuses. Action: Helps the body fight infections caused by bacteria.
Klonopin Oral - Benzodiazipine Used to treat seizures and panic disorders. Action: Affects chemical in the brain that may have become unbalanced and caused seizures or panic disorders.
Lamictal Oral - Antiseizure Used to treat seizures in adults and children over 2 years old; also delays mood episodes in adults with bipolar disorders. Action: Unrelated to all other seizure meds the mode of action unknown. Thought to have an effect on the serotonin binders.
Lasix Oral - Diuretic Used to treat fluid retention in individuals with congestive heart failure, liver or kidney disease or hypertension. Action: Prevents body from absorbing too much salt by allowing salt to pass in urine.
Levaquin Oral - Antibiotic Used to treat bacterial infections that cause bronchitis, pneumonia, chlamydia, urinary tract infections and infections of the prostate. Action: Works by killing senstivie bacteria in the body.
Levothyroxine Oral - Hormone Used as a hormone replacement when the body does not produce enough to sustain the body or to prevent goiters. Action: Replacemnt for the hormone, thyroxine, normally produced by the thyroid, also for body energy and metabolism.
Levoxyl Oral - Hormone Same as Levothyroxine except a different name.
Lexapro Oral - Antidepressant Used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Action: It works by increasing amount of serotonin that helps maintian mental balance.
Lipitor Oral - HMG-CoA Reductase-Inhibitor (Statins) Used to reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes and heart surgeries in individuals with high cholestrol. Action: Works to decrease the amount of cholestrol and slow the production of cholestrol in the body.
Lisinopril Oral - Angiotensin - converting enzymes Used to treat hypetension, heart failure and improve survivial after a heart attack. Action: Decrease chemicals that tighten blood vessels and allow blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
Lithiumeel Oral - Hemopathic Used for treatment of arthritis-rheumatism, diathisis and affectors, coxitis, chronic polyarthritis, sprains and joints and elimination of uric acid. Action: Not Available other take dosage (number of tablets) according to pain or condition.
Lopressor Oral - Beta blocker Used to treat angina, hypertension, and treat or prevent heart attacks. Action: Counteracts stimuli that causes elevated blood pressure resulting in slower pluse and lower blood pressure reducing workload on heart.
