| Autotroph | An organism capable of creating it own energy and food using light or chemical energy. |
| Calvin Cycle | A cycle that uses carbon dioxide to make glucose. |
| Pigment | A color made from light reflecting off the color and the other colors get absorbed. |
| Light Reactions | The first stage of photosynthesis where plants capture and store energy from sunlight. |
| Chloroplast | Organelles found in plant cells that conducts photosynthesis. |
| Thylakoid | A membrane that is the site of photosynthesis. |
| Glucose | a simple sugar that is a product of photosynthesis and is the main source of energy for all living organisms |
| Chlorophyll | The green pigment of plant leaves and algae, that is essential to photosynthesis. |
| Stroma | the supporting tissue of an organ |
