Photosynthesis 1

TermDefinition
Heterotroph An organism that can not make its own food and is dependent on other organisms for its source of energy and nutrition.
Autotroph An organism capable of creating it own energy and food using light or chemical energy.
Calvin Cycle A cycle that uses carbon dioxide to make glucose.
Pigment A color made from light reflecting off the color and the other colors get absorbed.
Light Reactions The first stage of photosynthesis where plants capture and store energy from sunlight.
Chloroplast Organelles found in plant cells that conducts photosynthesis.
Thylakoid A membrane that is the site of photosynthesis.
Glucose a simple sugar that is a product of photosynthesis and is the main source of energy for all living organisms
Chlorophyll The green pigment of plant leaves and algae, that is essential to photosynthesis.
Stroma the supporting tissue of an organ
