Animal Adaptations
| Term | Definition |

| adaptation | a change in the body or behavior of an animal making it better able to survive in its environment |
| hibernation | a long state of inactivity (or sleep) because of seasonal changes |
| migration | animals moving from one place to another because of seasons lack of food |
| camouflage | to blend into an environment for protection |
| mimcry | to look like or imitate another animal to avoid being eaten |
| instinct | born with natural behaviors needed to survive in an environemtn |
| learned behavior | a way of acting that results from experience or teaching in order for the animal to survive |
| methods of movement | walking, crawling, flying, swimming |
| dormancy | not active(not growing) for a period of time, but capable of going active; usually due to weather conditions |
| physical adapatation | how something looks that helps to keep it alive |
| behavioral adaptation | what something does or how it behaves to keep it alive |
| behavioral adaptations | hibernation, migration, dormancy |
| physical adaptations | camouflage, mimcry |
