Animal Adaptations

adaptation a change in the body or behavior of an animal making it better able to survive in its environment
hibernation a long state of inactivity (or sleep) because of seasonal changes
migration animals moving from one place to another because of seasons lack of food
camouflage to blend into an environment for protection
mimcry to look like or imitate another animal to avoid being eaten
instinct born with natural behaviors needed to survive in an environemtn
learned behavior a way of acting that results from experience or teaching in order for the animal to survive
methods of movement walking, crawling, flying, swimming
dormancy not active(not growing) for a period of time, but capable of going active; usually due to weather conditions
physical adapatation how something looks that helps to keep it alive
behavioral adaptation what something does or how it behaves to keep it alive
behavioral adaptations hibernation, migration, dormancy
physical adaptations camouflage, mimcry
