Name and explain the 5 plant adaptations to land environments. Cuticle is a fatty coating on the outer surface of their cells. Stomata enable the exchange of gases. Vascular tissues are specialized transport tissues. Reproductive strategies reproduce spores. Seeds protect embryo.
Explain the alternation of generations in plants. Gametophytes produce gametophytes. And Saprophytes produces spores that can become gametophytes.
Give characteristics of non vascular plants. Nonvascular pants usually are small, which enables most materials to move within them easily. These plants often are found growing in damp, shady areas.
Give characteristics of seedless vascular plants. Seedless vascular plants exhibit a great diversity of form and size.
Give characteristics of seed vascular plants. Vascular seed plants produce seeds. Each seed usually contains a tiny sporophyte surrounded by protective tissue. Have vascular tissue that transport water mineral and nutrients.
Explain why seed dispersal is important to seed vascular plants and give 3 specific examples of this process. Dispersal is important because it limits competition between parent plants. Cocklebur-attaches to animals to be taken away. Coconut- contains seeds float. Pine Seed-have wing like structures that the wind can carry them farther away.
