What is the function of villi? Increase surface area to more products of digestion can be absorbed at the same time.
What is peristalsis? Waves of muscular contractions.
What is the purpose of stomach hydrochloric acid? The enzyme pepsin is activated only in an acidic(low)pH --> ~2.0
What is the purpose of emulsification? Emulsification breaks up fat droplets so that enzymes have more surface area to digest.
What is the purpose of the rectum? Stores feces.
