Aerobe microbe requires oxygen for metabolism
Obligate Anaerobe microbe can only live in the absence of oxygen and will die when it is present
Facultative Anaerobe microbe can grow in the presence or the absence of oxygen
Mesophile microbe grows best at temperature 20*-45* C (68-113* F)- min. 15-20* C
Thermophile microbe grows at high temperatures around 40*-50* C (113-131* F)
Psycrophile microbe grows best at temperatures between 0*-20* C, max. 35*- i.e. snow fleas, watermelon snow
Nuetralophile microbe grows best with a 5-8 pH surrounding
Acidophile microbe grows best at the very acidic pH level of 3
Halophlic microbe normally inhabit high-salt enviroments, salt lovers; grow in a NaCl concentration around 15-25% - ex. live in places like the Great Salt Lake, not in the ocean
Halotolerant microbe does not require increased NaCl concentration but can grow in them
Parasitism symbiotic relationship between host and parasite
Opportunistic Pathogen microbe is benign untio the normal body defenses are suppressed, then they seize the oppportunity to invade tissues and express their pathogenicity
Ionizig Radiation short wavelength and high energy- breaks H bonds and oxidizes
