| Respiration | the process (by autotrophs and heterotrophs) that releases energy by breaking down glucose |
| Carbon Dioxide | a reactant (ingredient) of photosynthesis needed by plants |
| Adenosine Triphosphate | (ATP) principal chemical used to store and release energy |
| Adenosine Diphosphate | (ADP) used to store energy by adding another phosphate to turn it into ATP |
| Oxygen | a product of photosynthesis used by animals to breathe |
| Water | a reactant (ingredient) of photosynthesis |
| Glucose | a product of photosynthesis to store energy |
| Pigment | an energy absorbing molecule |
| Heterotroph | organism that has to eat other organisms to get energy |
| Autotroph | organism that has the ability to produce its own food from the sunlight. |
