Mitosis
| Term | Definition |

| Cytokinesis | the process of dividing the cytoplasm and organelles between the new cells |
| Cell Cycle | the series of events that cells go through as they grow and divide. |
| Centromere | the region where the pairs of chromosomes are joined together |
| Interphase | consists of G1, S, G2 where cell grows, duplicates DNA, and duplicates organelles |
| Spindle | fibers develop during prophase, used to pull chromosomes apart |
| Centriole | structures the form near poles, used to pull spindle fibers , only found in animal cells |
| Mitosis | the process used to create diploid cells that are identical to the parent cell |
| Prophase | nuclear envelope disappears, chromatin (DNA) becomes chromosomes,spindles appear |
| Metaphase | Chromosomes line up at the equator |
| Anaphase | Chromosomes are pulled apart towards the poles |
| Telophase | New cells pinch apart in animal |
