Mitosis

TermDefinition
Cytokinesis the process of dividing the cytoplasm and organelles between the new cells
Cell Cycle the series of events that cells go through as they grow and divide.
Centromere the region where the pairs of chromosomes are joined together
Interphase consists of G1, S, G2 where cell grows, duplicates DNA, and duplicates organelles
Spindle fibers develop during prophase, used to pull chromosomes apart
Centriole structures the form near poles, used to pull spindle fibers , only found in animal cells
Mitosis the process used to create diploid cells that are identical to the parent cell
Prophase nuclear envelope disappears, chromatin (DNA) becomes chromosomes,spindles appear
Metaphase Chromosomes line up at the equator
Anaphase Chromosomes are pulled apart towards the poles
Telophase New cells pinch apart in animal
