| Chromosome-like Part | Carries hereditary material on a virus |
| Host | Provides food for the parasite |
| Parasite | Lives in or on the host to get food |

| Endospores | Allows bacteria to survive under bad conditions, kind of like a force field around it |
| Saprophytes | Organisms that use dead materials for food |
| Decomposers | Living things that break down dead matter into simpler chemicals |

| Koch's Postulates | Steps for proving that a disease is caused by a bacteria |
| Communicable Disease | Can be passed from one organism to another |
| Antibiotics | Chemicals that kill or slow the growth of bacteria (medicine you take) |
| Biotechnology | The use of living things to solve everyday problems |
| Canning | Heating food and then sealing it in a container to kill bacteria |
| Pasteurization | Heating milk to kill bacteria |
| Freezing | Slows the growth of bacteria with cold temperatures |
| Dehydration | Removing water from food so that bacteria can't grow there |
| Antiseptics | Chemicals that kill bacteria on living things like (Germ X on your hands) |
| Disinfectants | Chemicals that kills bacteria on non living things (Clorox wipes on a table) |
| Flagellum | Whip like tail that helps bacteria move |
