Nucleotide A molecule composed of one or more phosphate groups, a 5-carbon sugar, and a nitrogenous base.
Carotenoid A group of yellow to orange pigments in plants
Protein A large complex organic compound composed of chemically linked amino acid subunits.
Steroid Complex lipid molecules containing carbon atoms arranged in four interlocking rings.
Amino Acid An organic compound containing an amino group and a carboxyl group.
Tertiary Structure Three-dimensional structure of a protein molecule.
Hydrocarbon An organic compound that is made up of only carbon and hydrogen atoms.
Phospholipid A fatlike substance in which there are two fatty acids and a phosphorus-containing group attached to glycerol.
Starch Polysaccharide used by plants to store energy.
Glycogen The principle carbohydrate stored in animal cells.
